FRANCISCO VÁSQUEZ

B. 1979

There is a fluidity to the use of perspective in the illustrations of Francisco Vásquez. This doesn’t mean perspective is lost for a lack of strictness, but rather that he finds a way to make it seem organic, permeated by the subjectivity of the human eye. It resembles many times the effect of looking at the world through a wide lens, or that of a GoPro from a high point. An openness to the borders of the images is also present. Vásquez, who is a native of Paraná, Argentina, has dedicated a lot of his career to the organizing and curation of art. He also teaches illustration to amateurs as an effort for the development of art in the region.
