In her own art, Julia Acosta experiments with illustration and stitching. She is constantly looking for ways to implement traditional techniques to find variations in the way to depict something. Her process involves improvisation which leads her to new shapes that she can then choose how to best position in the space and context. Another step in her creations is to transport what she draws into textile form, giving it a new relationship with the surface. Acosta graduated from the Fine Arts Superior Institute of Paraná, and is a teacher as well as a curator. She has obtained several awards and scholarships in her country.
