Portraiture is one of the ways in which Rachael Dunville connects to people, and human connection is what is more evident in her work. The people that she knows and meets along her nomadic life-style between Miami, NYC, and her home state of Missouri, are her subjects. She creates intense images of her models bearing their intimate persons, particularly focusing on their direct gaze into the lens of the camera. Her photography, as a result, is a series on transparency, femininity, motherhood, relationships, and authenticity. Dunville’s intention is to peel off the shallow layers that we build to relate to society. This has earned her spots on publications such as Glamour, FastCompany, and GirlBoss, as well as exhibitions around America.
