The story of Nemesio Carmamara, a novel poet that struggles to find a work that is completely new within literary tradition, gives way to the display of the airtight diatribe on the innovation in art which flows in this graphic novel, not just as the central topic, but as always conspicuous formal evidence: the collage quickly shuts down the dilemma by demonstrating the necessary influence of others for individual construction. Within complex questions like what is the world, what is art, and what does it mean to be a writer and to create, making use of traditions that span from western philosophy to early mythology and European esoterism, the small hero’s journey —young Demiurgo— seems to reveal that the work of art, much like reality, isn’t but a fragment and aggregation of many other integrated references.
